Revisiting Wall

Revisiting Wall Logo

We hope you all are keeping safe and sane in these difficult times. We are determined to maintain our community arts group, Eltham Arts, which relies wholly on volunteers and want to make our own contribution to living with the current challenges.

We have decided to Revisit the Wall and develop creative responses to the ongoing situation. Please join in.

We want you to tell us – How do walls feel around you? Have they changed lately? Do they bond you or are they more isolating?

Invitation to WALL Exhibition!

You are invited to the opening event of the WALL Project !

An exhibition by Eltham Arts

A multi media project involving the Eltham Community

Is a WALL a barrier? A connector? The exhibition is the voice and the vision of our community.

The exhibition reflects the different projects that have come together over the last year. It has caught the imagination of the whole community. People of all ages have created bricks using various media, photographic displays, artworks in glass and resin, a mosaic and a fabric hanging. The wonderful Community Wall will be built in the gallery with bricks created by individuals and groups reflecting what our local community has to say. The exhibition explores what WALLS mean to us in our lives.

The opening event takes place:

on Saturday 22nd September 2018
at The SE9 Container Gallery, St Thomas More School, Footscray Rd, Eltham SE9 2SU
from 11am to 3pm
There will be refreshments!

We will also be celebrating the Five Year Anniversary of Eltham Arts.

Hope you can come along and celebrate the creativity of our Eltham Community.

Bricks on the Wall
The project has started to create a community wall art installation in the SE9 Container Gallery in September. Bricks (cardboard) are being made in workshops, schools and by community groups. They are terrific.

At the first free workshop in Eltham library 70 people joined in. Dates of the next workshops. All ages welcome!

Sat 14th April. 10.30-12.30pm at Eltham Library, Archery Rd,
Sat 28th April 2-4pm at New Eltham library, Southwood Rd,
Sat 31st May 2018 10.30-12.30pm at Eltham Library. Archery Rd

Any groups who would like to make bricks and be part of this project, please contact us to discuss.

Songs across a Wall
This is the third challenge to our local singer/songwriters! The first challenge was to write and perform a song on a ‘WINTER’ theme and a CD ‘Aspects of Winter’ was launched and ‘FOOD’ last year with a tasty ‘Plateful of Songs’  CD being enjoyed . Now it’s ‘WALLS’.

Songs are being written and rehearsed already. A date has been set for an open air performance of the Songs Across a Wall at Passey Place on Sat 21st July as part of the Eltham Music Festival.

The deadline for songs to be considered in end May , so contact us if you are feeling inspired to write a song.

Eltham Music Festival

RockChoir-WideShot-Crowd

Eltham locals and visitors have just enjoyed another great musical July! In the heart of Eltham High Street, at the newly redeveloped Passey Place, audiences turned up for the many talented musical acts making the most of this new community outdoor space.

Each Saturday, on 1, 8 and 15 July, saw local musicians, singers, choirs and dancers come together to entertain in this Royal Greenwich and Eltham Arts Music Festival, part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals season.Progr-Slanted-2017

Here are just some of the performers – how many of these fabulous acts  did you see?
